Firm Profile
|
The Early Days The forerunner of our firm was a one-man practice operated by Ralph A. Shugart, C.P.A. In the summer of 1926, Mr. Shugart moved to Artesia and sold his Roswell practice to Richard M. Harrison and J. Walden Bassett, who operated under the name of Harrison & Bassett until the following spring. Mr. Bassett operated the business for about six months as a propretorship. In the fall of 1927 E. Bernard Johnston, who had been employed by Harrison & Bassett, joined the firm which became known as Bassett & Johnston. This name continued from 1927 to 1949, with the exception of a short period during World War II, when Mr. Johnston entered the service. In 1939 T.J. Deason, Jr. was employed by the firm and on January 1, 1949, joined the firm as a partner, establishing the firm name of Bassett, Johnston, & Deason. |
